Lord Ganesh

Before initiating any new work we remember Lord Ganesh and take his blessings. Whether it is a wedding or we bought a new house/office or any other event, we remember and worship Lord Ganesh. Almost everyone worship Lord Ganesh because we believe he’ll help us complete our work without any obstacle.

And how can I not mention our favorite festival “Ganesh Chaturthi”, where we make or bring Lord Ganesh’s idol and take him home as if he’s human to us. We feel that he’s literally with us those nine days. We offer him food, pray to him, and can feel him becoming our family member. We believe, only by praying him our problems will end. That kind of belief we have in him. And the most sad part is when we have to wave a good bye to him on Visarjan.
I really love this festival but some belief behind it upsets me. So there is this friend of mine who also believe in Lord Ganesh a lot. Her family also brings Lord Ganesh home every year. They are a happy family who worship Lord Ganesh wholeheartedly. Those nine days, they make lot of food and offer it to Lord Ganesh.

My friend and her mother-in-law does all the cooking and serving, that is to be offered to the Deity. In all those happy days, one day it happened that the mother-in-law had to do some other work and all the cooking and serving work went in the hands of my friend.

She was really excited and did all the things as per the pre-written methods. She did her part of job by putting all the devotion. But when her mother-in-law saw that she has offered the food to Lord Ganesh in a plastic plate and not in a silver plate, she got very angry. She ignored all the hard work and dedication her daughter-in-law has put into it and scolded her due to her old and irrelevant ideology. It affected me. This kind of ideology in today’s world is completely inapposite. God never differentiate their children based on what they offer but how they offer is more important. You can offer him sweets and good food in Silver plate or may be in gold plate, it does not matter. All that matters is your devotion and belief in Lord Ganesh.
