PING PONG

PING PONG

He was a doctor – not medical but Ph D. He was proud of being a D Sc in Electrical Engineering from Harvard University of USA. His name was Dr Chowrange, a person of high rank in our companies. He proudly stated  that the President of Liberia was from the same institute. He liked being called Dr, so everyone in the office would call him so.

Dressed in immaculate suits, he would enter his office, which was located on 5th floor, above Eros Cinema early in morning, but return timings were never guaranteed. On a typical day, his office scene would look like – Dr sitting in his chair with   a bunch of persons around him- ready to discuss technical problems with him. We always called it “Darbar.” Technology -  he loved and would discuss technical problems with his colleagues with utmost interest.  That was his first love.

He was a perfectionist – at each stage he wanted to improve upon. That, became a handicap for him as he was never satisfied with the drafts given by his assistants.

Once,  Dr had received a  request for sending a technical paper for one of the reputed journals. As usual, Dr asked one of his technical assistants, named Akash  to prepare the draft.  After a couple of days , Akash prepared the draft and put it up to Dr in his “ Home Mail  - Mail that goes to Dr at his home.

On the next day, when Akash saw the  home mail- Dr has seen only first paragraph and had given his comments.  Akash corrected the para on the lines indicated and submitted the draft again. Second day- Dr has seen the same para and corrected it again. Akash corrected first para and submitted in home mail. Third day, and Dr has seen only first para and given his comments

Akash got an idea – which he thought was the best. Why not send the paper to the journal without Dr’s clearance.  And he did it. The rumour is that the paper got accepted!! No idea, how long would Ping Pong would go on!
