'This day'

The command rung out loud,

And everyone froze at the sound.

My fists folded tight as ever,

And my legs stood straight together.

Everyone awaited the cue to sing,

And for the keys and strings to ring

The moment seemed too long...

The band struck the first chord,

And that had all of us geared up.

As we all sung to the melody,

Around us radiated a unique unity.

The trees, birds and the sky,

Favouring the tune, rose it high.

Perfectly synced, played our national anthem...

As the tune melodiously progressed,

The tricolour, effortlessly swayed.

The moment filled me with pride,

And my eyes might have cried,

My blurry vision stared at the tricolour,

How differences, are found together.

 Amidst this I endured valour, peace and growth...

Just as into one nation we all blent,

Energy and radiance the nature sent.

Every particle of soil and air was proud,

The wind and clouds said that out loud.

Justice, liberty, equality and fraternity,

Every person believed it till eternity.

On this land, on this day, these emotions a patriot felt...
