Book review Interpretationof melodies

'Interpretation of melodies' - by jumpa lahiri, a bengali u.s. living lady author.

Just completed reading in total 3 sittings of about 2 hours each at a stretch. Interesting short stories. On lands of Boston, U.S. and Calcutta.

Stories are written in 1970s.  So, the environment is taking us, those born before 4or 5 decades to a world then, be it India or U.S.  The World has changed entirely now, we experience as we flow through the stories.

The plots are of different types and being writren by a bengali author,  most of them appeal on emotional aspects in the end.

Who are the characters? Some tourist guide, some bengali guest at dinner, some newly wed hindu couple finding all chirstian things in a U.S. house, story of a 103 years old lady home owner staying alone, a poor lady guarding a  middle class building, an almost insane lady staying sad and lonely somehow getting pregnant and all such different characters around us.

The book is pulitzer prize winner.

Worth buying and reading.
