It's binomial nomenclature is Terminalia catappa. It is Indian almond. It is also called 'Netropamfal' or 'Vatshatru' in Marathi. An almond is powerful. It is not only having heat but also nutritious. It also increases our talent, hence it is given to small babies by rubbing in milk. An almond is called a nutritional powerhouse because it contains a rich source of protein, riboflavin, Vitamin E,Cu,niacin, Calcium (Ca),fiber,folic acid, Magnesium (Mg) and Potassium (K).

   Some medicinal uses of an almond-

👆🏾Being Tridosh Nashak it is used in all three Doshas- Vat,Pitt and Kaf.

👆🏾They boost our brain and eyes developing their health.

👆🏾Those who have dark circles around their eyes and whose skin colour is pigmented, they should use it's powder along with milk. They can apply such paste to those dark circles and even to pigmented skin. That will definitely reduce dark circles around eyes enhancing their sight and glow that pigmented skin also.

👆🏾Almonds are useful in reducing weakness of a brain. Those who have brain problems, they should use daily a wet almond.

👆🏾 Almonds increase talent, hence it should be given to small children and old people. It will enhance their talent.

👆🏾If your eye sight is weak,then use an almond along with ghee and sugar after fermentation. Fermentation is a process in which chemical changes are carried out in the substrates those are organic compounds with the help of enzymes released by bacteria in the specified environment. It cures your problem of eyesight.

👆🏾 During winter season we add almonds in the preparation of juices to increase heat in our body.

👆🏾An almond oil is used in curing TB(Tubercle Bacilli or Tuberculosis) just like Codliver oil.

👆🏾If you consume an almond daily,it will keep your hairs healthy. We will not suffer from hair fall and sudden white change in hair colour. An almond is hair growing dry fruit.

👆🏾The nut of the tree has also been used as a preventive for Alcohol intoxication.
