A Promise

I carefully opened a door,

A bunch of pages, blank and printed fell,

A sea of emotions and feelings roared at me,

I braced up and dived into the sea,

Each fallen piece stared at me and cast a spell.

They talked to me.

Each of them stared at me and I heard them whisper,

'You abandoned us', they growled,

'I know, I missed you' I softly said,

I pick them up, one after the other.

Smiles, Tear-stains, Regrets and learnings.

So much the printed ones told me,

And the blank ones stared at me, awaiting

To be touched and filled with letters plenty,

Revisiting, unknown made me feel each writing.

I picked up the youngest one.

Letters of innocence, love and naïvety I read

From a girl seeking appreciation and recognition,

'You are a good writer' to her I said,

And blank turned those pages, looking for completion.

I picked up a pen.

A promise I made to the girl I met,

Every page I shall fill and keep you alive,

Shall fulfil dreams and goals you set,

And in this sea, to meet you again, I will dive.
