Facebook is a popular social networking site in the United States.  Generally, anyone over the age of 13 can register as a member on Facebook.  Members can connect with other people they know and Facebook members as 'friends'.  Sending messages or photos to your friends, making an announcement in a way that is visible to all friends, and many more are available on Facebook.

          The first page that opens as soon as you enter Facebook is the home page.  This page features announcements and photos published by members friends.  Members can write their opinions on these announcements and photos.  If a member publishes his announcements as well as photos for all, all of that members friends will see those announcements on their homepage.

       The second page on Facebook is "Profile Page".  This page is divided into four sections.  The information page contains the member information.  e.g.  Member's name, date of birth, place of residence, political inclinations, preferences, etc.  Member's photos appear on the 'Albums' page.  A list of member's friends on Facebook appears on the 'Friends' page.  The announcements written by the member's friends for the member appear on the 'Wall' page.

         In 2012, Facebook bought Instagram.  Numerous photos and videos (up to one minute) can be uploaded to this system.  This system is very popular among the youth.

   In 2014, Facebook acquired WhatsApp, a popular instant messaging system.  It is very popular among the youth.  Most of the youngsters are seen chatting all day long with any person.  Facebook has created a separate app. for chatting.  This is known as messenger.  This app. has gained more popularity in less time.
