Dozakhnama:A Rabisankar Bal novel

Recently I was reading a  novel-Dozakhnama by Rabishankar Ball. The book was  translated by Arunava Sinha. It was my first ever reading of Rabishankar Ball's novels.                                   The story revolves around a manuscript which is claimed to be written by Sadat Hossain Manto, the famous Urdu author. The novel is structured through exchange of narratives betwen Manto and Mirza Ghalib, the famous gazhal writer. The lifetime of these two famous authors is depicted beautifully. The narrative takes the reader to a time of past-a past of glory and a past bloodshed. The cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Lahore, Lucknow becomes almost lively characters.                                                  The bloodshed of Sepoy Mutiny and communal riot of Bombay makes the reader gloomy and thoughtful. The narrative is so thriller-like that the reader is unable to stop reading even for a minute. Although originally written in Bengali, the book is available in English and Hindi translation also. It can be purchased through various online sites.
