MONA'S TRIP 

Mona was a sweet girl in fourth standard. Her final exam was just over and summer holidays had commenced. Mona was completely in a relaxing mood since there was no tension of studies. She was fully enjoying her vacation. Playing different types of indoor and outdoor games with friends, enjoying a variety of delicious snacks made by mom, watching cartoons channels etc.was her routine. One day Mona's Dad returned from his office and called her," Mona, come here. I have good news for you." Mona rushed to him and curiously asked," What is it about?" Daddy replied," We are going to Himachal Pradesh in the next week by plane and spend her holidays." Hearing this Mona squealed in delight. She started preparing for their trip with mom.

      In the next week Mona set out for Himachal Pradesh with her parents. When she reached there she was enchanted by the scenic beauty of the place. The atmosphere was very pleasant with a cool breeze. There were majestic snow capped mountains, lush green forests, gushing rivers and streams, verdant meadows and beautiful orchards. Mona was completely fascinated by the stunning beauty of nature. She visited revered shrines, colourful monasteries and many other breathtaking places in Himachal Pradesh. She said to her parents," This place is no less than a paradise." Both of them agreed with her. She had great fun playing in the snow with each other. She was really enjoying her trip.

     It was a pleasant morning in Manali. Mona was going to visit an apple orchard in Manali. When she reached there along with her parents, she saw apple trees everywhere. The trees were loaded with red apples. Mona's joy knew no bounds and she started swirling. She saw a big basket full of red, delicious apples under the tree. At once she started running towards it. Her mom said loudly," Mona, be careful", but she didn't listen to her mom. As she reached near the basket and was about to pick up an apple from it, suddenly she heard a strange voice calling her. " Mona,O' Mona ". Mona startled and looked around, but no one was there.

       Again she heard the same voice," Look here, I am an apple speaking with you." Mona looked at the basket with surprise. The apple in the basket was speaking with her. Mona asked curiously," Can you speak like me?" The apple smiled and replied," Yes, I can." Mona exclaimed," Very amazing! I have learnt that an apple a day keeps the doctor away."

The apple said," Very right. I am good for your health because of my high nutritional value. I contain vitamin A and C, rich in cellulose, fibers, carbohydrates and also contain some minerals. I prevent and cure several deficiency disorders such as scurvy, night blindness etc. I purify blood, keep your gums and teeth healthy. I help in building bones. Overall I keep you healthy."

     Mona said," Great, I love eating apples very much. I like apple juice, apple jam and apple pie very much." The apple continued," I belong to the family of Rosacea. When ripe I usually red, yellow or green. I grow in temperate zones in relatively cold weather. That's all." Mona said," Wow, Today I became aware of many amazing things about you. Thank you." The apple smiled once again and said, " Bye bye Mona." Mona happily ran towards her parents and told about her conversation with the apple. Both Mom and Dad were really surprised. They purchased some apples and wandered there. Mona really enjoyed the visit and came back to the hotel.

She stayed there for a week and returned home.

       Mona called her friends at home and described their trip to them. Her conversation with the apple was the most amazing thing for friends. They ate apples brought by her and went home happily.
