THE SPIRITS ARE MATERIALISTIC

My spiritual journey has been great since I have learned to learn better. Our mentors, Gurus, teachers and the world around us many a time influence the design of our life and thoughts. I consider myself the luckiest that my spiritual journey had once brought me to the learnings of Ramanan Maharshi and the Great Elizabeth Clare Prophet. I have learned to stop again and again, to learn better, in order to break the myths that many of us have been raised with. My understanding and the learnings have brought me to the conclusion that the material world and the spirit plays a balanced role for creating the great life.

Many of us may not know that the matter comes from the Latin word Mother. The physical world is the mother because matter is the womb into which Spirit descends. Matter is the medium for the spirit to express itself. Without the medium or the physical platform (the body) the role cannot be played. Hence Spiritual evolvement is not possible without having a secure physical platform. Sometimes because of our religious upbringing we have mistaken the idea that Spirit is good and matter is bad, or that spiritual things are good but the body is bad. In reality, both the spiritual and the material, are meant to be the reflection of the divine in their highest state.

Another misconception we may have is that in order to be spiritual we need to escape from the world around us. Many of even plan the Himalayans to get spiritually active. But the real spirituality is not about leaving the physical world behind, it’s about implanting the physical world with the Spirit. It’s about being part of the world, but not identifying so much with the material that we forget who we are and the purpose of us to be here.

Ramanan Maharshi, the great spiritual teacher of all the times and the person who has redefined the meaning of SELF, once rebated a student who wanted to give up his work, money and family to serve God. He responded to him by defining the modern understanding of the word Renunciation. “Renunciation doesn’t mean giving away your money or abandoning your home… No: a true renunciate actually merges in the world and expands his love to embrace the whole world”

It’s like one of Aesop's fables we have learned in our school days of the astronomer who wander around the town each night studying the skies, One night while he was staring at the heavens, he fell into a deep well. The neighbour who finally heard his cries said,”Why probe the skies when you can’t even see what’s here on the earth?’

So the true spiritual understanding has been quoted differently by many of the spiritual gurus around the world. Many even guides us to leave the material life and the society to receive the true renunciation. But that is not the truth anymore.

Learn to learn better, learn to understand the outcome of being spiritually active and learn to read more by every new day.
