The Silence

The Silence

‘I think... you must be very happy now, mom! You have suffered from the worst days of life while raising me!” Jack was telling.

No response came, that too seeing him after so many years.

‘I have all the luxury with me now… A big bunglow, a posh car, U.S. citizenship, beautiful wife, smart kids… Everything, almost everything!’

Still nothing was heard; only silence!

‘But you know Mom, I wanted to spend my whole life with you, taking care of you when you really needed me.’ Jack’s voice chocked. ‘...and you… you chose a widow NRI for me, for my birght future!’

‘But… Do you know my son, that povetry has finished my whole life!’

Jack stood up with wet eyes and torn heart; gently placed the roses on the tomb. He was unable to listen his mother’s painful silent voice.

‘I have everything now... including a silent mother!’, he assured himself.
